How to Deal With Sibling Rivalry

After a long day’s work, all you can dream about is a long, hot soak in your bathtub.  But with kids quarreling just outside your bathroom door, that dream may just very well drown itself in those bathtub bubbles.

Brothers and sisters fight over many things.  To us parents, it’s petty, but to them, they’re just about ready to use some wrestling mat tape to prepare for a serious wrestling match.  So, what can we do to handle fighting siblings?

Losing your temper and yelling will not to anybody any good.  When you feel you’re about to lose it, ever so calmly take away whatever item is causing the fight, and send the kids in two separate rooms.  This will be a good time out opportunity for you as well.

After you’ve all calmed down, try to talk to them and ask them what the real problem is.  If the kids can’t give you an answer, tell them to stay away from each other for the rest of the day.

The best way to deal with sibling rivalry is by staying cool as you try to look for the reason behind the fight.

He’ll Always Be My Baby

As I look fondly on my little boy, I can’t help but feel a lump in my throat.  I try to hold back the tears as I watch him play with his toy cars, unmindful of his mom playing a flashback in her head.

It seems like only yesterday when I first held him in my arms.  I was brimming with joy as I gave birth to a little bundle of joy.  That happiness brought about by that moment was simply incomparable.

Now, he’s bigger, and getting smarter each day.  He runs around the garden like he was doing an Olympics track and field event.  He’s starting to speak a few words to express how he feels.

This has got me thinking about his second birthday.  It’s still a few months from now, but I’m already toying with ideas for a party theme in my head.  Hiring an event planner would spare me the added stress, so I just might do that.

I’m excited as I witness how my boy grows each day.  Time will come when I can no longer cradle him in my arms, when he’ll be too busy shaving to give his mommy a kiss.  But the fact remains: deep in my heart, he’ll always be my baby.

My Little Drummer Boy

This early on, I’m seriously thinking about getting a couple of earplugs.  I’d want to protect my ears from the deafening sound of my son’s drum playing.  I have no talent in telling the future, yet I have a strong feeling that my son is going to grow up to be a professional drum player.

I’ve started scouring both the malls and the internet for a good set of drums for my future Tommy Lee of a son.  I found this set of Mapex drumkits which I’m sure he’ll love when the time comes.

Whatever his heart desires, of course I will be there to support him- as long as I have earplugs!

Blooms for Your Room: The Secret to Really Sweet Dreams

I don’t know any woman who doesn’t like flowers.  If there was one, well, she probably isn’t 100% female!  Gender biases aside, men and women will greatly benefit from having flowers in the bedroom, as a study shows that they help contribute to having sweet dreams.

A group of German researchers pumped various scents ranging from foul to sweet-smelling under the noses of 15 women while they were in the REM stage of sleep- or the dreaming stage.  The smells turned out to have an effect on the emotions they felt from the dreams.  The negative smells elicited bad dreams, while the sweet smells produced good dreams.

The next time you get lavender bunches from your beau, try putting them in your bedroom for a change.  You’ll have happy thoughts go through you- whether you’re asleep or awake.

The Beat of a Different Drum

We all make mistakes, don’t we?  At some point in our lives, I guess it’s normal to feel some degree of regret.  Maybe you took a wrong turn at the crossroads, and ended up in a career you never thought you’d be in, for example.  Or you let go of that man who you thought was the “One”.

Sometime in college, I swore that I was going to learn to play the drums.  I knew that my fascination for those lightweight snare drums played by marching bands spoke more about an underlying passion… a passion to create my own music.

I asked about drum lessons at the university, but never really got around to signing up for it.  Looking back, I don’t remember exactly why.  Now, I still find myself drumming in the air whenever I hear spanking drum solos on the radio.  The passion is still there, but I never followed through.

I have to admit that I do have a few regrets here and there.  I know that I haven’t really made the best decisions in my life, yet I still am grateful for where and who I am today.

Men Fairies Do Exist

The dinner table is always a peaceful place to convene with the entire family. If you happen to have a son who suddenly blurts out something about how he fancies fairies, don’t be quick to judge.  He may simply be taking a special liking to man fairies.  Yes, there are such creatures.

I can attest to that as the Fairy Hobmother has graciously visited my blogs, and sprinkled pixie dust all over them.  If you still haven’t heard, he’s a generous chap from Appliances Online.  He finds that it gives him great joy to spread cheer all over the blogosphere.  He rewards hardworking bloggers with gifts.
I, for one, have been rewarded with an Amazon gift card.  That will come in handy when I finally buy that washing machine I have wanted for so long.  If that’s not an awesome way to feel appreciated, I don’t know what else is!

Don’t just sit there.  Get the Fairy Hobmother to notice you too by following these incredibly simple steps:
1. Leave a comment – be sure to include your blog url or other info so he can easily find you.
