Gardening With Your Kids

Image: FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Kids are naturally bursting with energy.  One minute they’re playing in the backyard, the next minute, they’re tinkering with your bixolon receipt printer like it was a toy.  It’s no surprise then that it is every mom’s dilemma how to contain that energy and channel it into something productive.  If you want to keep the kids away from video games, you could try introducing them to the wonderful world of gardening.

Growing a garden with your kids is an excellent way to get them to learn to nurture something as it transforms from seed to bloom. Nothing compares to the satisfaction derived from seeing your hard work result in a beautiful flower or a vegetable you can actually eat.

Gardening takes learning to the next level by giving kids a firsthand look at growth and the concept of life cycles.  What they normally just learn in the confines of the classroom, they get to experience in real life through gardening.

Excellent choices for planting are lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, carrots and potatoes.  They’re pretty easy to care for, and it doesn’t take so long for them to grow.

Feed your child’s innate curiosity through gardening.  They love to play in the dirt anyway, so maximize that!

How To Design Personalised T-Shirts For Your Friends

One of the best gifts to give to a friend is a personalised t-shirt. Whether it’s to commemorate a certain event or to immortalise an inside joke, personalised t-shirts show a certain level of care and attention, which is often missing from more common gifts. The kind of effort, creativity and thought that goes into a personalised shirt says a lot about the friendship between the giver and the recipient.??For those looking to create personalised t shirts but who don’t know where to start, here are three simple steps to creating some great custom t-shirts.

Learn to Use a Drawing Program?? Anyone can download a free, thirty day trial of a good drawing program and learn it well enough to create some great images and text for personalised t-shirts. Even if the gift-giver would prefer to draw or write by hand and then scan it into a computer, a computer graphic image of the shirt design is necessary, and the best way to perfect it and prepare it for print is by learning to use the software.

By using the correct software and creating the shirt transfer image at the correct size, the designer has much more control over what the final product will look like. Nobody wants to give their friends a t-shirt that features typos and weird printing errors, so knowing what the design looks like is really for the best.

Keep it Simple ??A good t-shirt design is generally going to be pretty simple in terms of colours. Other than a few designer labels, most t-shirts only print in a handful of colours. They also tend to focus on big, bold lines, easy-to-read text, and easily identifiable, iconic art.??There are exceptions, of course, but the best looking shirts are usually the ones that can be read from the other end of the room. When in doubt, it’s a good idea to make all of the colours do double duty. For instance, when a shirt needs orange in one spot, red in another, and brown somewhere else, an orange-red tone can cover all three. Some printers actually charge based on how many colours are used, so a two colour shirt may cost less to print and look just as good as a four colour shirt.

??Feel Free to Go Wild??

No matter how naughty the joke, no matter how wild the concept behind the shirt, the fact is that shirts for friends are free to go as far as they want. The shirts seen in the store have to rein it in a little if they want to sell to the public, but there are no rules when it comes to what can be printed on a t-shirt for a friend.??Here there are some guidelines, but there are no real rules: learn to use graphical software, keep the design bold and simple, and feel free to create the wildest shirt anyone’s ever seen.

Legoland Hotel to Open in Malaysia in 2014

I can hardly believe it when I read it on the internet today.  My kid was just as ecstatic as he nearly shot out the roof when he leapt for joy at the idea of a Legoland Hotel opening in Malaysia in 2014.

They started constructing it sometime last month, according to developer Merlin Entertainments Groups and LL Themed Hotel.  The hotel will be situated next to the Legoland theme park, which is due to open end of 2012.

It promises to bring those popular children’s building bricks to life with the creative theming of the hotel.  Child-friendly features such as low counters in the restaurant and Lego-filled treasure chests in the bedrooms are going to be some of the highlights of the hotel.

I am definitely going to bring my kid there- as long as he promises to stop messing with our door kick plates from now on!  Lego will always be a part of his- and my- childhood…

Camping as a Family Bonding Activity

Do you sometimes feel like you hardly know your family members anymore? What with each one of you leading busy lives: dad spends 10 hours slaving away in the office, mom spends hours in front of the computer with her at-home job, and the kids are each busy with schoolwork and after-school activities. It’s about time you found the time to do something enjoyable together as one tightly-knit family unit.

One such fun family bonding activity is camping. Exploring the great outdoors is a welcome respite from the stressful demands of everyday life. When going camping, remember to bring these essentials: a camping tent, sleeping bags, a first aid kit, and a reliable cooking system like Jetboil. Also prepare games for the whole family to enjoy.

Kids and Gadgets

With the advent of technology, the love for gadgets start at young age. Most schools would start teaching kids about computer. As they grow older, the fondness for latest gadgets continue to develop. In fact bigger kids prefer to have gadgets as gifts on special occasions, and they definitely want the latest model.

That means the latest mobile phone, music and video player, game consoles which includes jeux ps3 and of course, the latest computer model. There is nothing wrong giving gadgets as gifts. But it is also important that big kids should be encouraged to engage in physical activities and socialize with other kids too.

How to bond with your kids

On a typical weeknight, you might find yourself tapping endlessly on your laptop keyboard, again surfing through Wholesaleinsurance.net instead of listening to your five-year old’s narrative on her busy day at play. Times like these should be saved for bonding with your family. They say that the best gift you can give your loved ones is time, because you cannot get back lost time. This couldn’t be any truer.

Set aside some non-TV bonding time with your kids, even on a busy weeknight. Take some time off from your online work to at least have dinner together with the rest of the family. Mealtimes are excellent opportunities for catching up on each other’s lives. This is the chance when you each can freely talk about how your day went, while sharing a sumptuous meal. Afterwards, you can play a quick board game just to bond with them.

Summer Vacation Planning

It’s never too early to plan a fun and exciting summer vacation. There’s an itinerary to prepare, camping grounds to scout, best routes to be charted, and food supplies to be bought. A trip to the mall has to be scheduled for the family’s summer wardrobe and for equipment we’ll need for our adventure. It’s also time to check our home-on-the-road for necessary rv repair. A well-maintained RV would, after all, make our vacation go smoothly. We wouldn’t want to be stuck on the road with a broken vehicle when we could be spending those precious moments enjoying our great family adventure for this year.

Shopping in Just One Click

Online shopping is one of the greatest things that happened in the internet. For busy people, they would rather doze off to dreamland rather than go to the store for shopping. Hence online shopping is very convenient for them. It provides a wide array of choices of different products, there is even an Extended Selection for clearance sale. Yes, you have read it right! Even online shopping provides clearance sale but less the people and long lines at the cash register area. Online shoppers get the same consumer rights; they are also entitled for refunds on product satisfaction. Some online store would provide free shipment of orders while others would charge a minimal amount, it would be almost equivalent to the gas money you’ll be spending when you drive to their store.
