Stress Management Tips to Better Handle Your Stress

Until you find that proverbial genie in a bottle, you feel you may never manage to successfully get rid of stress in your life.  You feel you’re constantly doing a circus act with all the responsibilities you’re juggling in the air.  Although it may be impossible to totally eliminate stress from your system (because in tiny doses, they can be healthy too!), there are easy ways to better manage stress.

Express yourself.  That old Madonna song does hold a lot of truth to it.  Instead of bottling up your emotions, it helps a great deal to talk about them.  Keeping your feelings trapped will only make resentment build, and that could worsen things for you.  If someone is troubling you, try to communicate with that person in a respectful manner.  It’ll take a huge load off your chest.

Say “No” sometimes.  You can never underestimate the power of this magic word.  If you start saying “no”, you are cutting down the unnecessary stressors in your life.    Taking on more responsibilities at work, for instance, will only push you over the edge of sanity.  Know your limits and abide by them.  Realize that you are no superhero.

Put things in perspective.  Always try to look at the big picture.  When you find yourself struggling with a problem or a stressful situation, think of how it figures in time.  Will it still matter a month or a year from now?  Is it even worth thinking about?  If it’s not something significant, then divert your energies elsewhere.

There is no cookie-cutter formula for managing stress.  Find what technique suits you like a pair of gloves to a tailored sportsman, and you will soon feel more in control of things.

Breast-care Tips for Women

November 29th, 2011 Mom Posted in Women's health No Comments »

A woman’s breasts are undeniably an important part of her overall aesthetic value. These seem to be even more important than expensive grad gifts for the Harvard graduate. We can never underestimate how firm and perky breasts add to a woman’s sex appeal. Women go to great lengths to either get them bigger or smaller. More than being concerned about how they make us look, we women should think about how we should care for our breasts. Here are some simple things to do to keep them in tiptop shape:

Get the right bra. Just because a bra looks fabulous on a lingerie catalog model, doesn’t mean it’ll look as good on you. It should, of course, fit naturally without pinching your breasts. They should give you adequate support, especially if you run. Get a sports bra if you plan to engage in physical activity.

Maintain a healthy weight. If your weight constantly fluctuates, this may cause your breasts to sag.

If you’re at least 35 and have a family history of breast cancer, consider getting a mammogram as soon as possible. Early detection is still the best cure.

Things to Think About Before Getting Married

November 8th, 2011 Mom Posted in Personal and Family Health, Women's health No Comments »

Every little girl dreams of growing up to marry the man of her dreams.  Although not everyone will get the chance to have a dream wedding like Kate Middleton’s, one’s wedding is no less a memorable and special experience.  If you’re one who’s about to tie the knot, try to think about these health considerations before you get married:

Pap smears.  If you’ve never seen a gynecologist, now’s the perfect time to do that.  Get those yearly Pap smears and exams to make sure your body is in tiptop shape to get pregnant.  Sooner or later, you and your hubby will want a little bundle of joy.

Your period.  Nothing can be worse than having your period on your honeymoon.  If you find out that your period is due on your honeymoon, talk to your doctor about using contraceptives to help delay your menstruation.

Remember, your health is more important than your precious collection of Morgan silver dollars.  In order to successfully fulfill your wifely duties, you have to be in the pink of health.

Lazy Ways to Lose Weight

August 25th, 2011 Mom Posted in Personal and Family Health, Women's health No Comments »

Women the world over are on the perennial quest to lose weight. Whether you simply want to look foxy in a tight black dress or you want to trim down to stay healthy, we all have our reasons for wanting to lose weight. Left and right, we try out various products available, from diet pills to slimming teas. The more brazen ones among us go the easy- albeit painful- route of plastic surgery just to get rid of unwanted fat from our bodies. Good news is, there are some simple and sweat-free ways to say goodbye to flab:

Drink lots of water. Thirty minutes prior to having your meal, down a full glass of water. You’re sure to feel so full that you won’t have to eat so much.

Share. When dining out, share those huge meal servings with a friend.

Squeeze it. Even while you’re working in front of the computer, you can firm up those abs by squeezing your tummy as hard as you can, hold it for as long as you can bear it, and release. Do this several times a day, and you will start to see results.

Losing weight does not always have to be a chore. With some amount of discipline, you can achieve your weight loss goals.

Of late, I have been too busy with online work, that most of my hours were spent sitting in front of the computer. With the kind of work I do, I hardly break up a sweat.

Then again, sexiness is a state of mind. Feel sexy, and you will look sexy. We are what we conceive ourselves to be. And not even the best diet pills can do that!
