The Beat of a Different Drum

We all make mistakes, don’t we?  At some point in our lives, I guess it’s normal to feel some degree of regret.  Maybe you took a wrong turn at the crossroads, and ended up in a career you never thought you’d be in, for example.  Or you let go of that man who you thought was the “One”.

Sometime in college, I swore that I was going to learn to play the drums.  I knew that my fascination for those lightweight snare drums played by marching bands spoke more about an underlying passion… a passion to create my own music.

I asked about drum lessons at the university, but never really got around to signing up for it.  Looking back, I don’t remember exactly why.  Now, I still find myself drumming in the air whenever I hear spanking drum solos on the radio.  The passion is still there, but I never followed through.

I have to admit that I do have a few regrets here and there.  I know that I haven’t really made the best decisions in my life, yet I still am grateful for where and who I am today.
